What to Bring on Your Ride

Clothes

Sturdy shoes or boots; long pants that don't ride up your butt when you sit down; a shirt to keep the sun off your arms and neck; layers including a base layer and a warm top; waterproof jacket; sunhat, cap or cowboy hat (please pay attention to the size of your brim as the wind blows these hats off more easily) and maybe an ear cozy if it's windy; close fitting gloves if you think you need them; cozy socks.

Sun Block

This is high altitude country, starting around 8000 ft above sea level. The more difficult rides climb to13,000 ft. I advise you to wear long sleeves, a secure brimmed hat, and a zinc based sun blocker.

Food

Bring enough food to keep you happy on your ride such as nuts, berries, fruits, trail mix, chocolate, jerky, etc. Sandwiches and a hot flask of coffee/tea/soup are nice on the longer rides.

Water

Bring water in a non-breakable leak proof container.

Camera/Phone

Each ride has scenic photo stops where I take some great photo's of you and your horse with your camera/phone. So don't forget your camera!

Altitude Sickness

Some people from a much lower altitude benefit from taking 400 - 800 mg of Ibuprofen before riding at high altitude. High Country and Skyline rides go up to 13,000 ft. Altitude sickness can manifest in a wicked headache, nausea and vomiting.

Helmets

Helmets can be provided on request.

Bags

Saddle bags, cantle bags and leather latigo ties are provided for your gear. Please do not bring a backpack as it may become uncomfortable. If you want clothes to stay clean and dry I suggest putting them in a plastic bag, and then in the saddle bag.

PACK OUT ALL YOUR TRASH.

CIGARETTE SMOKE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED NEAR ME OR MY ANIMALS.
